Participation, rethought
Euphena One
Each project gets its own company, its returns become digitally divisible – and leadership stays with those who carry the project. Why this is needed is explained below.
The modelVisionary · Vienna & the world
I think in decades – and set ideas in motion that connect people, technology and the common good.

Stance
What matters to me
I listen first. I make time for conversations that change things. And I stay reachable – especially when things get difficult.
For more than ten years I have been building companies and turning ideas into reality – in travel and events, in organisation and logistics, and today in energy and artificial intelligence.
Not every venture went to plan. What remains is a craft: building structures that hold when it matters – and bringing together people who want to make a difference.
Today I see my role as giving direction: sketching pictures of the future, bringing people together and setting up structures that endure beyond any one individual.
Profile
Christian Stephanides
Visionary · Business builder · Vienna
Christian Stephanides is a visionary and business builder from Vienna and Chairman of CRYPTEIA, an association for digital innovation and business. He has built several companies – in travel and events, promotion and logistics, energy and technology. Since 2016 he has worked with Austria’s largest festival organisers – with Nova Rock and Frequency, the country’s biggest rock and pop festivals, to this day. With the AI and web studio BlackUnicorn he brought brands onto the street; in 2021 he organised Vienna’s COVID-19 testing centres with around 1,600 people; and in 2022 he staged the Giant Ferris Wheel in Vienna’s Prater, the city’s historic amusement park, with pyrotechnics for Halloween. In 2024 he supported international companies entering the market at Invest in Austria.
Today Christian Stephanides supports initiatives that rethink energy, real estate, artificial intelligence and participation: Euphena One (participation without loss of control), GreenWave (energy storage and photovoltaics in Austria), PinkCross (preserving real estate and making it digitally open to investment) and the AI operating system ATLAS. His model for the future is the Democratic Future Movement – thought through to 2100.
Milestones
My first company in Vienna. Travel, events and experiences for young people – and, from the very start, crew partner of Nova Rock and Frequency, the country’s largest festivals. That partnership continues to this day.
Promotions, roadshows and campaigns for retailers and tour operators – among them Hofer (ALDI in Austria) and the tour operator ETI. Plus a sampling network of our own, from which the name BlackUnicorn later emerged.
Official bus partner in Austria for Let It Roll, the world’s largest drum-and-bass festival in the Czech Republic, and for Beats for Love – travel for fans from across the country, three years running.
When the city needed help, the first teams were in place within 18 hours. In the end, around 1,600 people were recruited, trained and deployed by us for Vienna’s testing centres. Speed, responsibility and reliability when it counted.
For Vienna’s Prater, the historic amusement park, we staged the Giant Ferris Wheel with pyrotechnics for Halloween – security, crew and production from a single source. New Year’s Eve followed with a security concept involving more than 80 staff. BlackStage grew out of this work.
Talks with the Austrian Business Agency, the Republic of Austria’s national investment promotion agency, on supporting international companies entering the market; presenting new technologies to institutions – and in February 2024, an exchange with the then Federal Chancellor at Invest in Austria.
Planning a photovoltaic system for a large Viennese housing association – the step into energy.
Two initiatives launched, an operating system in use, a model for the future published. And the world as a workplace.
Way of thinking · a model for the future
Machines are taking on more and more work. The question is who benefits from what they produce – and what gives a society meaning when productivity is no longer the measure of all things.
I have developed a model for this: the Democratic Future Movement (Demokratische Zukunftsbewegung). Not a programme against anyone, but a draft of how participation, education and the returns of automation could work together – with figures from public sources, calculated through to 2100. You are welcome to disagree. That is exactly what it is for.

Initiatives
The initiatives are independent entities, each run by its own team. I contribute ideas, direction and network. I will present others once they are ready.
Participation, rethought
Each project gets its own company, its returns become digitally divisible – and leadership stays with those who carry the project. Why this is needed is explained below.
The modelEnergy storage & photovoltaics
Storing power where it is needed. GreenWave develops storage and solar projects in Austria and delivers them with vetted specialist partners. The first pilot project is in preparation.
Real estate
Properties that have run into difficulty are taken over, put in order and carried forward – rather than broken up. Participation in them becomes digitally divisible through Euphena One. The first properties are under review.
AI & web studio
Websites and AI solutions for businesses – built by people and machines together.
blackunicorn.atOperating system
A digital management team: specialised AI roles for planning, legal, finance and communications. They prepare – people decide.
Algorithmic markets
A research system that reads market data, measures risk and tests strategies. It is a pure research project, manages no client money and gives no investment advice.
The model behind Euphena One
Three problems I have seen again and again over more than ten years – and Euphena One’s answer to them.
Problem 1
A founder brings in money and gives up voting rights in return. After two rounds, people who never carried the project themselves are deciding its future.
Answer Economic rights and voting rights are separated. Those who provide capital share in the returns. The project is led by those responsible for it – laid down in the articles of association.
Problem 2
Stakes in energy or real estate projects are reserved for large investors. Small amounts are too costly to administer, and shares are hardly transferable.
Answer Each project becomes a company of its own, and its returns are divided digitally into small, transferable units. Administration and settlement are automated – which is what makes small stakes economical in the first place.
Problem 3
In traditional groups, everything hangs on a single account. One failure puts ventures at risk that are doing well.
Answer Each venture stands on its own legally, with its own partners, its own liability and its own accounts. Euphena One structures and supports – it does not raise investor money and is not a fund.
This page describes a model. It is not an offer or a solicitation to acquire stakes or digital assets.
Glossary
What I work on – from participation and tokenisation to energy storage and artificial intelligence. Explained in plain words.
Putting capital to work today in order to generate a return later – for example through a stake in a company, a property or an energy project. Every investment carries risk, up to and including total loss; return and risk are always linked.
A share in a company or project. Depending on its form, it carries voting rights, economic rights or both – from a conventional equity stake to a silent participation, which shares only in the profits.
Economic rights determine who shares in the profits; voting rights determine who decides. The two can be separated by contract: those who provide capital share in the success, while leadership stays with those who carry the project. The model of Euphena One is built on this separation.
A separate company for one single venture, known as a special purpose vehicle. Contracts, liability and accounts stay with the project – if one venture runs into difficulty, others are not affected.
The careful examination before a decision: figures, contracts, legal position, technology and the people involved. It separates robust ventures from polished presentations.
Venture capital finances young companies with high growth potential and high risk. Private equity usually takes stakes in established companies that are not listed on a stock exchange. Both generally expect a say in decisions.
Many people take part in a venture with smaller amounts, usually via an online platform. In the EU, such platforms are governed by the European Crowdfunding Service Providers Regulation (ECSP).
Ongoing, open communication with those who provide capital: reports, key figures, conversations. Trust comes from regularity, not from promises.
The Austrian Business Agency is the national investment promotion agency of the Republic of Austria. Under the Invest in Austria brand, it supports international companies in establishing operations and entering the market.
A tamper-proof register maintained in a decentralised way: entries are chained together in blocks and jointly confirmed by many computers. Once something has been written, it cannot be changed without this being noticed.
Digital assets recorded on a blockchain or similar technology – such as Bitcoin or Ether. Their prices fluctuate sharply. In the EU they are subject to the rules of the MiCA Regulation.
A digital unit on a blockchain that represents a value, a right or access. What a token is in legal terms depends on the right it embodies – anything from a voucher to a security.
A right to a real-world asset – for example to the returns of a solar park or a property – is represented digitally in tokens. This allows it to be divided into small units, transferred and administered automatically.
Tangible assets such as real estate, energy installations, bonds or commodities whose rights are represented on a blockchain. They are seen as a bridge between traditional finance and digital technology.
A token structured like a security, conferring for example economic or ownership rights. It is subject to capital markets law – with prospectus and supervisory requirements.
A program on the blockchain that automatically executes agreed rules – for example a distribution to all holders as soon as returns come in.
The digital wallet for crypto-assets and tokens. It holds the keys that give control over one’s assets – whoever loses the key loses access.
A crypto-asset whose value is pegged to a currency such as the euro or the dollar. Issuers in the EU require authorisation and sufficient reserves.
The EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. Since 30 December 2024 it has governed, across the EU, who may issue, offer and hold crypto-assets in custody. In Austria, the competent authority is the Financial Market Authority (FMA).
The direct conversion of sunlight into electricity by means of solar modules. PV systems on the roofs of residential buildings and businesses are one of the fastest routes to clean electricity.
It takes in electricity when there is plenty available and releases it when it is needed. Battery storage smooths out peaks, stabilises the grid and makes solar power usable in the evening too.
In Austria, private individuals, municipalities and businesses can join together to share electricity they generate themselves – as a renewable energy community or a citizen energy community.
A property whose financing, management or ownership structure has run into difficulty, known as distressed real estate. Instead of a fire sale or break-up, an orderly takeover can preserve its value – this is what PinkCross aims to do.
The returns or shares of a property are divided into digital units. This allows more people to take part with smaller amounts, and settlement and transfer are automated.
Systems that perform tasks which previously required human thought: understanding language, recognising patterns, preparing texts and the basis for decisions.
An AI that does not just answer but carries out work steps on its own – researching, writing drafts, cross-checking data. At ATLAS, agents prepare; people decide.
A system in which many specialised AI roles work together – similar to a management team for planning, legal, finance and communications. ATLAS is such a system.
These explanations are intended to aid understanding. They are not investment, legal or tax advice, and not an offer to acquire stakes or digital assets.
Principles
Whatever happens twice gets automated. Energy belongs in decisions, not in repetition.
Good ideas are measured not by the next quarter, but by what they have achieved in twenty years.
Machines may think and prepare. People must decide – in small matters and in large ones.
At home worldwide
I work across time zones – between Europe, the Emirates and Southeast Asia. The system keeps running, even while I sleep.
